Patent name: METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF RECYCLE CUMENE FLOWS IN CUMENE OXIDATION PROCESS
Patent Number: Patent No. 1455596

This invention refers to the production of phenol and acetone by a pseudocumene method, in particular, to treatment of cumene recycle flows. While oxidizing cumene and distilling oxidate a neutralization is conducted for separation of acidic impurities, said process comprises separate neutralization of recycle cumene from both oxidation and distillation stages, wherein for neutralization of recycle cumene from the oxidation stage an aqueous NaOH solution is used in an amount of 0.001-0.034 wt% (100-% NaOH) on the basis of total recycle cumene flow, and for neutralization of recycle cumene from distillation stage it is treated with aqueous ammonia solution at a weight ratio of 100-% NaOH to NH3 as 1:(1.5-8). After neutralization the water-salt solutions are produced, said solutions and recycle cumene are treated with circulating washing water. Recycle cumene from oxidation stage is washed out with circulating washing water together with aqueous NaOH solution at a weight ratio of said solution to flushing water of 1: (400-500). These conditions provide no destruction of cumene hydroperoxide and no emission of HC(O)OH to atmosphere along with off-gas while the amount of waste waters decreases 2 times and the production rate increases 15% |
